Cartagena is a town with a magnificent historic past, being the Roman Theatre (just restored) the greatest exponent of its history. Its heritage and cultural wealth are even bigger thanks to the Punic Rampart with an Interpretation centre. The city also shows a military tradition from medieval times being the Conception Castle the main sign. Local festivities are very famous, like The Easter Procession or the celebration of Carthaginians and Romans in September, that commemorates the II Punic War. The variety of entertainment is complemented with “La Mar de Músicas”, a world music festival which is celebrated in July. Besides, Cartagena offers an ample range of museums that makes the city a cultural destination of the first order. The fair Coast of Cartagena deserves to be mentioned, standing out beaches like “Cortina Cove” and “Portús”, apart from the well-known beaches in La Manga del Mar Menor.
